Watching Too Many Videos Could Be Killing Your Brain Orgasm

There is evidence from scientific studies which showed that watching too many videos on Youtube could kill the body’s ASMR. This refers to that tingly feeling that people experience from whispering and experiencing gentle touches. This loss of ASMR is being likened by experts to drug users who were desensitized to their stimulus due to long-term use of the drug. Although videos indeed invoke the ASMR of people which is also the reason why it elicits millions of viewers, many people now reported having diminished their ASMR. This occurrence is what experts refer to as ASMR immunity.

These findings were based on a survey conducted which had 19,000 respondents from more than 100 countries all over the world. Researchers say spending too much time watching YouTube videos could lead to the person to develop immunity to a stimulus that is supposed to trigger the ASMR effect to the individual.

The survey showed that 95 percent of respondents say they associate the ASMR to that particular feeling that affects their head and brain. On the other hand, 71 percent of respondents say they feel ASMR somewhere around their spinal cord.

Understanding ASMR

ASMR or Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response refers to that sensation that elicits an enjoyable or relaxing sensation. This is often accompanied by that “tingly” feeling. This ASMR is made apparent by whispering. This ASMR is a very distinct feeling that is felt in the scalp, back, head and other peripheral parts of the body. This sensation is often touched first in the head, and then it goes down to the spine. In some cases, this feeling also spreads down to the limbs. These sensations are experienced by the body as a response to the cognitive, auditory, visual and tactile stimuli.

Why do many people watch videos?

Many people enjoy watching videos as their way of de-stressing. Others use it as a pastime activity that helps them quickly fall asleep. However, too much of it has been linked by experts as a habit that desensitizes the brain. But, how do people counter this ASMR immunity? Experts advise that a tolerance break can be done so that an individual can regain his ASMR.

What other ways to experience ASMR?

Study participants say that aside from watching Youtube videos, people also prefer to experience ASMR by receiving light touches while their eyes are closed.

Researchers also refer to this sensation as the “tranquil and womb-like effect.” This is why as newborns the senses that are most developed is the sense of touch. So. mothers express their love through gentle touches and whispers of affection. This is why many people think of ASMR as the sensation that usually reminds them of childish experiences.

Scientists want to conduct a further study about how and why people have this ASMR. However, they also say that the difficulty of studying such phenomenon is brought about by the fact that it is too hard to conduct a study that warrants a quiet, peaceful and solitary environment to ensure that ASMR is detected. Unfortunately, fMRI machines and EEG tests are done by connecting a sensor that is often attached to a person’s scalp. Thus, the tendency to feel ASMR is interrupted. To date, the tool that we have nowadays are not yet conducive to studies such as the one regarding ASMR.

Researchers say understanding ASMR can significantly help experts to understand better how the human brain works. While psychologists say gaining a better understanding of ASMR may also help people know how we feel loved. It could also enlighten people and help them come up with a better treatment for anxiety and depression.
